Agenda and minutes
- General information
- ASTRONET report
- PG had been at a meeting in Copenhagen where he met several people involved in writing the draft ASTRONET road-map report. It was noted that the draft contained very little on standards for application software (e.g. with respect to architecture and interfaces). There were some opposition within Panel D, which dealt with software, to include such areas in the draft. PG has submitted comments to the draft and asked that standards for application software be mentioned (referring to the work of our Network).
- There was a meeting, June 16-17,in Liverpool on the ASTRONET road-map but none of our Network participated. We need to check the next draft to see if our comments have been implemented. The final road-map report is expected by the end of the year.
- Status of FP7
- OPTICON received the first EC evaluation which was positive (giving it 14 of 15 possible points). This makes it very likely that OPTICON will get FP7 funding. On the other hand, it is not yet clear at what level the proposal will be funded. It is expected that the results will be known in the July - August time frame.
- Mini-interface meeting July 17-18
- A mini-face2face meeting on interfaces will be held at ESO July 17-18 with participation of MC, PG, CS, LP and DG. It is expected that we during that meeting can agree on a draft document which outlines interface standards required. A very first draft was circulated and some written comments were given through e-mail. When the draft is ready (i.e. by the end of July), it will be distributed within our Network for written comments. We plan a review period until end-September so that a final document can be ready till the end of the year (i.e. when the FP6 contract terminates).
- The meeting will be held in rooms with video conference equipment. If anybody is interested in connecting, they should notify PG so he can get the system activated.
- New developments
- Interface specifications
- Prototype projects
- LP reported that he has implemented a Python version of SAMP which will be used for the prototype. There were several discussions on the SAMP specifications (DT and LP). Some authentication issues still have to be considered possibly as an extension to SAMP.
- Actions
- Status of open actions (see ActionList)
- Summary of new actions (see below)
- Time for next phone meeting
- Suggestion: 2008-07-22 14:30 UT (16:30 CET)
- Any other business
- CS mentioned that he had a discussion with G. Chiozzi (ESO) during the SPIE meeting in Marseilles. The main topic was on sharing of software and interfaces. PG will contact Chiozzi to extend the discussion. One option would be a common proposal for a BoF at ADASS.
- MC mentions that Keith Shortridge had sent an e-mail on sharing and experience with software applications. PG was positive to the suggestion but had not answered the e-mail as he wanted to wait until we know if we get FP7 funding.
Please add what I forgot and correct my errors.
