Agenda and minutes
- General information
- ADASS'07
- DT and PG submitted a BoF proposal to ADASS'07. We have had no response as of now but expect to know if it was accepted when the final program is published in early August.
- Next Face-to-face meeting
- PG did announce our intention to have a short face-to-face meeting in the early afternoon of Sunday Sep. 23. It may overlap with tutorials. When the final program is known we will take the final decision. Sunday is the only reasonable option it is unlikely to be changed.
- High-level requirements
- Revision of Requirements document
- Our replies to the comments on the High-level requirements were distributed. There were no objections so fare. PG will proceed and make the changes in the Requirements documents so that it can be finalized in August possibly after a round of discussions.
- Possible FP7 proposal
- OPTICON mid-term meeting Sep. 10-11, 2007
- The is a mid-term meeting on the EU-OPTICON contract on Sep. 10-11. All parts of OPTICON will report on progress and plans. Our Network will have approx. 5 min. or 3-4 viewgraphs. PG considers to participate in this meeting, not due to the presentation of the progress report, but because there also will be preliminary discussions on possible
FP7 proposals.
- Steps towards a proposal
- PG stated that he was working on a preliminary draft but would first have it finished around July 30. It would be important to have agreed on the basic features before the OPTICON mid-term meeting. Also PG was interested in having at least a draft he could show ESO management some time in September.
- To speed up the discussion, it was proposed to circular the draft first in a smaller group (representing people from organizations with interest in active participation in an implementation project). This group would consider the proposal in August with the aim to have a full discussion at our next phone meeting. A further phone meeting could be scheduled in early September if needed.
- After a short discussion, it was proposed the the group should consist of: BiancaGarilli (LuigiPaioro), PrebenGrosbol, DanielPonz, ChristianSurace, and DougTody. MarkoUllgren should be contacted with respect to possible Finish participation.
- Proto-types
- Reports on proto-type work
- CS reported on the Marseille-Milan prototype. LP had just returned after spending some time in Marseille. There they had reviewed the design in particular of the task system and messaging. The latter was made more portable and compatible with other systems such as VO. Also a new GUI concept was discussed for client to relieve command-line input. Documentation will be available on their TWiki site whereas implementations are expected in the fall.
- DT mentioned that VO messaging will be discussed in the next weeks in a meeting in Seattle.
