Agenda and minutes

1. General information
   • Our OPTICON report 2006
     • PG will submit our report on 2006 to OPTICON. In the section for planning of the next 18 months, he will state that we will add a delivery of a project plan for implementation and therefore extend our activities to the summer of 2008.
   • Phase B planning
     • The subgroup to prepare the planning discussions at our next face-to-face meeting was created (with BiancaGarilli, DanielPonz, DanielPonz, and DougTody). In its first phone meeting, general issues were discussed such as what would be needed and the best strategy for implementing an environment. DT emphasized that real life Use Cases were important to focus an implementation on real issues.
   • FP7 schedule
     • PG mentioned that an e-mail from John Davies confirmed that OPTICON expect the call for the EU FP7 to be in the fall of 2007 with a deadline late 2007 or early 2008. With this time-line, we should have an implementation proposal ready in draft form by the summer to circulate it to different organizations.
2. Status of reviews
   • High-level requirements
     • The deadline for the Internet wide review of the high-level requirements is on 2007-02-06. DP mentioned that the requirements were circulated within ESA projects. Even if relative few comments are expected, it seems to be an important step to do so that we can state that a very wide community had the chance to comment.
3. Next Face-to-face meeting
   • Practical arrangements
     • The next face-to-face meeting will be Mar. 1-2 on Tenerife. A separate e-mail with practical information had already be send out. As group of rooms have been reserved until Feb. 15 so it's important that people reserve both flights and accommodations before then.

     • There were a short discussion on the tentative agenda. The first day will be spent on finishing the requirements and discussions on prototypes and interface specifications while the second day is reserved for a detailed discussion on an implementation plan. Options for video conferencing should be checked as some people (e.g. BillCotton) would like to participate in some sessions but would probably not be able to come in person. There is also a session on 'lessons learned' the first day in which general experiences from different projects will be discussed.
4. Proto-types
   • Reports on proto-type work
     • BG reported on the Milan-Marseille prototype. Detailed information is now available on a Web site. The interfaces had be specified and will be presented at the face-to-face meeting.
     • DT mentioned that he had mainly been doing VO related work but expected to look more on an openRTE prototype before the meeting.

   • MC mentioned that he had heard comments suggesting that people did not understand the scope of our Network and therefore did not either appreciatethe call for comments on the requirements.
