Agenda and minutes

1. General information
   • OPTICON news
     • PG checked with OPTICON (J.Davies) on a possible early termination of the OPTICON FP6 program. It turns out that we are not effected since we plan to terminate at the end of 2007. It is still somewhat unclear when the different calls for EU FP7 programs will be done. In any case, it is prudent to slowly prepare for a FP7 proposal.
     • DT mentioned that he had contacted Ralph Castain (ref. OpenRTE) who unfortunately was unable to come. They are working on improving the documentation and are interested in collaborations.
2. Face-to-face meeting 2006-06-12/13 at ESO Garching
   • Main agenda items FaceToFaceMeeting20060612
     • The tentative agenda was updated to reflect a start time of 11:30 on June 12. Since the exact amount of time needed for discussing the requirements (depending on the written comments) and presentations related to proto-types is not known, we may need to revise the agenda at the start of the meeting. It was not possible to get a representative from OpenRTE to give a presentation but we may try at a later meeting.
   • Practical arrangements
     • PG requested all who intend to participate in the June face-to-face meeting to e-mail nfelber@eso.org with copy to pgrosbol@eso.org for flights or/and accommodations arrangements. It is better to do this soon as the soccer championships in Germany may bring additional complications.
3. Requirements
   • Status of high-level requirements document
     • BG, DP, PL, KR and PG have during the last 1-2 month added narratives the the individual requirements. The updated high-level requirements document is available on DetailedHighLevelRequirements in PDF format as the attachment FaseReq_085.pdf.
   • Written review: objectives, deadlines
     • A call for written comments on the version 0.85 was made to all on the fase@eso.org mailing list. The deadline was set to 2006-06-06 12:00Z. This just allows a combined, sorted list of comments to be made prior the our face-to-face meeting but probably not for written answers to be distributed. Main objectives of this review are to agree on the narratives of the requirements, check for redundant ones and reassess if any are missing.
4. Proto-types
   • Reports on proto-type work
     • BG reported on the Milan-Marseille prototype. They are working on the container-component interface where containers will be in Python while components typically are in C, executed in separate processes. DT asked if this was similar to the work done at RadioNet which also provide access to C code through Python. It was unclear how similar the details were but BC offered to send more information on the RadioNet work if needed. It is expected that interfaces and some simple demo can be presented at the face-to-face meeting in June.
