Agenda and minutes
- General information
- OPTICON news
- PG briefed on OPTICON developments. The amount left on the internal ESO account for ON3.6 activities is around EUR 4000 which is not enough for a face-to-face meeting. We expect to new funding after EU has approved the OPTICON 2005 report which should be eminent. PG has asked John Davies for the state of the approval and details for an early finish of the OPTICON FP6 program.
- Face-to-face meeting 2006-06-12/13 at ESO Garching
- Main agenda items FaceToFaceMeeting20060612
- It was proposed to delay the start of the meeting to 11:30 on June 12 to allow more people to arrive in the morning. This would also shift the Lunch by 30 min.
- BG argued that too much time had been allocated to the final discussion of the high-level requirements, namely the full first day. PG answered that it was done for safety to ensure that all topic could be fully considered but if we progress faster the agenda could be shifted during the meeting.
- DT suggested that we could invite a person from OpenRTE to give a presentation during the meeting. PG will check at what level OPTICON could support such things (e.g. by providing local expenses to some non-EU participants).
- Practical arrangements
- Although basic reservations of ESO rooms and hotel accommodations have been made, it would be good to know how are planning to participate in our June face-to-face meeting. Also for the full Network 3.6 members for which OPTICON will refund travel and local expenses, it would be good to get your preferred travel plans so that ESO can buy the tickets. Please send an e-mail to our DMD secretary Nina Felber (Martine is an maternity leave) with copy to PG .
- Requirements
- Work on high-level requirements
- The work on the detailed explanations of the high-level requirements has started with section I Installation and running. We are working to finish the narratives by May 5 so that the written review can be announced at our next phone meeting around 2006-05-12 leaving 3 week
for people to submit comments.
- Proto-types
- Reports on proto-type work
- CS reported on progress regarding the Milan-Marseille prototype. It was decided to pace the framework on Dbus as to was simple, fast and available on Linux platforms. OpenRTE was considered but the current documentation was not adequate. Basic design and interface definition were started. It is expected that parts of this can be presented and discussed during the June face-to-face meeting. DT inquired about the implementation of the parameter model. It will be based of our previous discussions but is likely to be implemented in a VOtable compatible fashion as XML only provides a limiting functionality.
- Actions
- Status of open actions (see ActionList)
- Summary of new actions (see below)

- Suggestion: 2006-05-16 or 2006-05-23 14:30 UT (16:30 CET)
- After some discussions it was decided to have the next phone meeting on Friday 2006-05-12 14:30 UT (16:30 CET)
