Agenda and minutes
- General information
- The ESO/Finnish project will start in January 2005. The ESO Manager, Richard Hook, and Project Scientist, Palle Moller, are named. Thus, I propose to add both of them as associated members to ensure a tight coordination.
- PrebenGrosbol proposed that Richard Hook and Palle Moller be added as associated members. This will tighten the interaction between our network and SAMPO (ESO/Finnish project). There general support so if nobody objects before 2004-11-26 they will be added (and therefore also be invited to participate in our face-to-face meeting).
- First face-to-face meeting 2004-12-02/03
- Draft agenda
- The tentative agenda was slightly modified by splitting the session on VO and grid (as requested by FabioPasian). DougTody argued that both topics was interrelated and were difficult to separate. During the meeting we may discuss both topics together but listing both items ensures that none is ignored. A more detailed agenda will be made and circulated before the meeting (see action). Everybody were requested to consider which topics they were most interested in so that we can share and distribute tasks coming up during the meeting.
- ADASS meeting
- Summary and impressions
- DougTody summarized the ADASS meeting and especially the Bof relating to our network. The BoF gathered more than 50 people and was initiated by several short presentations (our network, ESO/Finnish project, VO, GRID) after which there was a general discussion.
- High level requirements
- Short discussion of first draft at HighLevelRequirements
- The high-level requirements were shortly introduced by
PrebenGrosbol after which there was a short discussion.
- DanielPonz suggested to add a point on standards for validation and test of software components
- The issues of internationalization was raised and should be added at some level (DanielPonz and BiancaGarilli)
- For parallel execution, there is a need for monitoring of different streams (DavidGiaretta)
- Some requirements on the data model are required (BillCotton)
- Architecture and framework discussions
- Short discussion
- DougTody had e-mailed an outline of a possible architectural/design document on fase@eso.org which he expanded on.
- We must clearly address 'fears/wishes' of users
- It is important to elaborate on Design Reference Use Cases
- The extent of including pipelining was considered. There is a clear need for individual users to re-reduce raw data in the environment. Components don't know how they are used so they can be used both for analysis and reduction of data. It is the task of an 'integrator' to setup a system which is convenient for a specific purpose (e.g. pipeline processing)
- The boundaries between VO and GRID must be clearly defined.
- The relation to GRID workflows must be considered.
- Discussion on Scope-3 (see ScopeOfNetwork) and e-mail by DanielPonz
-
- DanielPonz summarized his e-mail on fase@eso.org. It was agreed that his points 1 and 3 were the most relevant. He will create a TWiki page on Scope-3 (see action).
- UserScenarios and Use Cases
-
- Due to lack of time, the discussion was postponed to the
- Actions
- Status of open actions (see ActionList)
- Summary of new actions (see below)
- Time for next phone meeting
- Suggestion: 2004-12-21 15:30 UT (16:30 CET)
- Any other business
Please add what I have forgotten and correct my errors.
