Phone Meeting 2004-07-20 14:30 UT

Participants: KlausBanse, BillCotton, BiancaGarilli, PrebenGrosbol, DougTody

Agenda and minutes

  1. General information
    • ALMA pipeline considerations
      • During a recent review, ALMA presented plans for its quick-look, on-line and off-line pipeline data reduction systems. They include the creation of a container/component framework based on ACS (using CORBA) which will be able to execute pipeline reduction scripts (likely in Python) and using slightly modified AIPS++ modules. This is clearly an interest evolution which we in our discussion should keep a close look on and possibly coordinate with.
  2. Details of poster/BoF at ADASS 2004
      • It was concluded that both a poster and a request for a BoF should be submitted to ADASS (deadline Aug.2). PrebenGrosbol will make a draft abstract by Aug. 29 and circulate it on our e-mail list before submitting it (see actions).
  3. Face-to-face meeting
    • Proposal: late November at ESO Garching
      • With ADASS in late October, a face-to-face meeting in late November seems to be the best option as we will not have dicussed the requirements detailed enough before ADASS. The exact date will be fixed in September when dates for other meetings are better known. The location is likely to be ESO, Garching.
  4. Revision of ScopeOfNetwork
      • The scope was revised following the discussions at last meeting (see minutes PhoneMeeting20040629). The list is more or less in order of decreasing priority but not a time-line of our activities.
    • First discussion on VisionStatement
      • They was a brief discussion on the VisionStatement in particular to what extent pipeline reductions should be included. It was concluded to keep the text at this moment (i.e. retaining the main emphasis of our network on data analysis and not pipeline related issues). The scope should be re-discussed when more people are back from vacation etc.
    • List of UserScenarios
      • The listed should also include a case for a team of people developing application code. Further, the multi-wavelength aspect should be emphasized. Outlines of the scenarios will be made till next phone meeting so a first discussion can take place there (see actions).
  5. Actions
    • Status of open actions (see ActionList)
    • Summary of new actions (see below)
  6. Time for next phone meeting
    • Suggestion: 2004-08-24 14:30 UT
  7. Any other business
      • JohnDavies has provided a template for the handout sheet which we were asked to provide for JENAM-2004 in September. PrebenGrosbol will make a first draft for the next phone meeting (see action).

Please add what I have forgotten and correct my errors.
